Mbombela - The Mpumalanga Gambling Board (MGB) extends its sincere gratitude and congratulations to the newly crowned Miss Mpumalanga 2015, Zamanene Nene, who hails from Standerton, in the Gert Sibande District Municipality.

Nene, a 21 year-old, Social Science student at UJ, was crowned at a glittering ceremony held in Mbombela, at the Emnotweni Arena, presented by Mzimari and the MGB, as event organiser and sponsor, respectively. The runners-up, Mbalezinhle Ntuli from Thembisile Hani, (1st Princess) and Mmaphefo Ntaopane from eMalahleni (2nd Princess) are equally congratulated. We welcome these three young women and wish them a successful tenure.

The MGB prides itself for providing, since 2011, an avenue for each young woman to give a voice to those needing to be heard, to lend a hand to those less fortunate, and to be a compass for those daring to dream. It is fortunate for us that we can rely on these young women to convey messages of hope and to inspire others. Five pageants were produced since 2011, and they each left an indelible mark during their reign.

The newly crowned queen will, among other causes, spend the next 12 months, as an official ambassador of the MGB on responsible gambling awareness in the Mpumalanga Province. Her duties entails, promoting awareness on the negative effects of gambling, awareness against illegal gambling activities, and interacting with young people dissuading them from developing harmful gambling habits. Nene is taking over from the outgoing queen, Natasha dos Santos, who carried her responsibilities with great pride and passion.

The road to crowning of the fifth Miss Mpumalanga beauty pageant ended in style, with Nene driving away with a brand new VW Polo sedan and many other prizes, and the audience basked on the entertainment and festivities of the day.
