posted on

On Saturday, 12 April 2014, the Mpumalanga Gambling Board “MGB” changed the life of yet another young woman, Miss Natasha do Santos, hailing from Kanyamazane, as she was crowned Miss Mpumalanga 2014 and walking away with a brand new Polo Vivo. The MGB has been the main sponsor for this venture (crowning Miss Mpumalanga) and partnering with Mzimari Productions since 2011.

“When the MGB seized the opportunity presented by this venture in 2011, we were not sure exactly how much support and spinoffs we would be able to generate. Therefore it gives us a great sense of pride to see this very impressive initiative growing into a widely supported event. We have utilized this opportunity to reinforce the “Brand MGB”, especially to the young people of the Province,” explained Mr Mlambo, Chief Executive Officer “CEO” of the MGB.

“I must state that our relationship with the “crowning Miss Mpumalanga” brand, is one of our most important and valued relationships. It has given us the right platform to tackle issues of gambling as it relates to young people,” adds Mr. Mlambo.

The crowned Miss Mpumalanga 2014 “Miss Natasha Dos Santos”, will become the Ambassador for the promoting of responsible gambling awareness encouraging responsible gambling to the citizens of the Province. Through this partnership, the MGB have taken gambling awareness programmes to schools and communities – discouraging youth gambling, which usually is on unregulated forms of gambling, such as betting on card games, dice, internet gambling, illegal slots machines etc.

The CEO of the MGB, Mr. Mlambo acknowledged the great contribution of the “dreamer” behind this venture, Ms Gugu Nyarenda, for affording the MGB this great opportunity. Furthermore, Mr. Mlambo also expressed the sincere gratitude to the outgoing Miss Mpumalanga 2013, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene – “an awesome Ambassador indeed” – he wished her well in all her future endeavors.
