MER CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOPS YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS IN THE REGULATION OF LIQOUR IN THE PROVINCE
The drive to promote compliance and do away with the fraudulent and old liquor licence has this far yielded positive results within the liquor industry in the province. MEDIA STATEMENT: ILLEGAL GAMBLING MACHINES DEMOLISHED
On Friday, 12 October 2018, Miss Mpumalanga 2018, who is also MER Ambassador, Vanessa Hollenbach attended the destruction of 38 illegal gambling machines in Mbombela. The machines were confiscated from illegal operations throughout the Province in partnership with SAPS. This is an ongoing operation to eradicate illegal gambling in the Province.

The Mpumalanga Economic Regulator “MER” together with the Department of Community Safety Security and Liaison, Local Municipalities, Department of Home Affairs and the Community Policing Forum embarked on a joined workshop on 30 January 2018 where liquor traders were urged to comply with the Mpumalanga Liquor Licencing Act and conditions that comes with their licences. This workshop was held in Delmas together with the liquor traders.
